The Jungle Book – Monologue – Aged 11+

£4.49

The boy, MOWGLI, has been brought up by wolves as a cub, but the Council of Wolves has turned against him, encouraged by the wicked Shere Khan, the tiger who had snatched him as a baby. It is now time for Mowgli to return to the world of Men.

Extract from Script:

MOWGLI: (Standing upright, a pot of fire in his hands, facing the Council) Listen to me. There’s no need for this dog’s jabber. You have told me so often tonight that I am a man – and, indeed I would have been a wolf with you to the end of my life – that I feel your words are true. So, I do not call you my brothers anymore, but DOGS as a man would! What you will do or not do is not yours to say. That is my decision, and, so that we can see things more clearly, I the Man, have brought with me some of the Red Flower, which I know you fear. (He flings the fire-pot on the ground and the Council draw back in terror from the leaping flames.)
