Treasure Island:  by Robert Louis Stevenson – Adapted for ScriptsandSketches.com

The story is set in a coastal town in Devon during the 18th century. JIM Hawkins’ recently widowed mother owns the Admiral Benbow Inn . One of their lodgers, an old seaman called Billy Bones , dies after he was cursed during a visit from a blind beggar. While he is looking for money that was owed for the lodging , Jim finds an oilskin packet among Billy’s possessions. Jim and his mother manage to hide from Blind Pew and the band of pirates who return, looking for it. In this scene, Jim takes the packet to Squire Trelawney and Doctor Livesey.

101 Dalmatians – by ‘Dodie’ Smith – Adapted for Scriptsandsketches.com

The wicked CRUELLA DE VIL loves Dalmatian dogs – because she thinks their skins make lovely coats. She has kidnapped the Dearlys’ beautiful puppies, along with other Dalmatians. Here, she makes plans for disposing of all the puppies.

JAYNE EYRE:  By Charlotte Bronte – Adapted for ScriptsandSketches.com

JANE is a young orphan living in a loveless home. In this scene, she has been locked in ‘the red room’ in which her uncle died.

Treasure Island:

JIM: (Excitedly, trying to push past the maid who has opened the door) Dr Livesey? (The Doctor appears, accompanied by Squire Trelawney) I have brought you the packet, sir. Here it is. (Stepping inside the Doctor’s room and placing it ceremoniously on a table) Shall I open it for you sir? (He begins to open the packet) It seems to contain a book and a sealed paper. Shall we look at the book, sir?

101 Dalmatians:

CRUELLA DE VIL: Saul! Jasper! Turn off that television. And turn on the lights. And turn the sound right down. I have something to talk to you about my lads. Tonight, the dogs must be killed tonight. Yes I know we were going to wait until they were bigger Jasper, but some of them are, the older puppies, and the smaller ones can be made into gloves. Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is, they must be killed before anyone finds them. There’s been too much in the newspapers at the moment. They’ll even be on the television news tomorrow morning.

Jane Eyre:

JANE: Let me out! Let me out! I won’t say my prayers. I won’t! I won’t! I don’t care if Miss Abbott is right and something bad does come down the chimney to take me away. I really wish it would, then I wouldn’t have to live in this horrible house again. But… I don’t think it will and I’m scared. Scared of this lonely, cold bedroom; scared of those shadows and those flickering lights.
