Join Righty and Lefty, two imaginative children, as they pretend to be wellington boots stuck in a cold garage, dreaming of warmth and adventure outside.
Duologue
Characters: RIGHTY, LEFTY
Two children aged 6 – 8 years imagine that they are each a wellington boot, left in the cold garage for some time.
RIGHTY:
Brr! It’s so cold and dark out here. Are you cold Lefty?
LEFTY:
Yes I am, Righty, it’s been a long time stuck in here, and it’s so boring, I can’t wait to get out and about again. You look very squashed Righty.
RIGHTY:
Yes I am. I am bent right over and my poor back aches. I can’t wait to get out too.
BOTH:
(Sigh!)
LEFTY:
Listen someone’s at the door (Pause - The lights gone on), Ooh look it’s our favourite little girl!
RIGHTY:
Yes, yes, her hand is coming towards us, I think we are going out. At last!
BOTH:
Hurrah!
LEFTY:
At last! Ooooooh! She is putting her little foot inside me with her furry sock, I am feeling so much warmer already!
RIGHTY:
Me too, Ooooh I feel warm too. It’s so cosy. (Pause - boots march out) This is such fun marching up and down and running fast at last!
LEFTY:
Splashing in these puddles, Ooooooh I’m wet all over. There is mud all over me too. I love it.
RIGHTY:
Let’s jump together, up and down, up and down. Keep going, keep going. Don’t stop, don’t stop!
LEFTY:
Oh no, we have slowed down. I think we are walking back now, Oh no! I don’t want to go back to the cold again. I want to stay out here and play for ever.
RIGHTY:
The lovely little cosy sock is pulling out of me now, I have been put down, but where? Where are we both going?
LEFTY:
By a very hot radiator to keep warm and dry.
RIGHTY:
Oooooooh how marvellous, come on cosy up.
BOTH:
It’s a welly boots life for us!!
