The Fox And The Goat

In this humorous tale, a thirsty fox tricks a goat into jumping into a well, only to leave him stranded. Will the goat find a way out? A lesson in caution unfolds.
Duologue
Characters: GOAT, FOX
(At the end of a garden by a country house)
FOX:
Gosh I am thirsty, I must have a drink of water, this Well has plenty of fresh water.
(He leans over the top of the well) Aaaaaaaaaargh!
(He topples over and splashes into the water. When recovered he begins to drink) Lovely fresh water, just what I needed, thank goodness, the Well isn’t too deep, now how on earth am I going to get out of here.
(He looks up and sees a goat looking over the top of the well)
GOAT:
Hey Fox what’s the water like down there, I am very thirsty and need a drink?
FOX:
Come and join me, it’s delicious and very fresh, come on jump in, there is plenty for both of us.
GOAT:
123 jump! Aaaargh
(Goat jumps over into the Well and splashes around drinking the water) You are right, this water is so refreshing and delicious, certainly worth jumping in here for.
FOX:
Oh I forgot to tell you before you jumped in, we actually cannot get out of here.
GOAT:
(Surprised & shocked) You must be joking, I would never have jumped in if you had told me. How mean of you!
FOX:
Don’t worry, I have a very cunning plan. If you put up your front legs against the wall and stand on your back legs I will climb on your back and stretch up to pull myself up to the top. Then I will go and get help.
GOAT:
(Expectant) Great idea Mr.Fox, I can do that easily.
(He stands up with two front legs on the wall.) Now jump on my back, gosh you are heavy, up you go.
FOX:
(Pulls himself up) Byee!
GOAT:
(Shocked & worried) Wait!! Don’t go, don’t leave me, we had an agreement, you said you would get help?
FOX:
Well if you had half as many brains as the hairs in your beard you would never have jumped down in the first place. I must dash away now or I will be late for my meeting! Byee!
(Runs off)
GOAT:
(Shouting) You can’t just leave me, help, help, someone help me.
Well at least I have got water to drink it could be worse (forlorn with his head down)
BOTH:
(Both come forward arms around each other and say together) And the moral of the story is: “Always look before you leap”
